Jack Kornfield said “if your compassion does not include yourself, it is not complete.”
This has been a theme in my life recently… all the books that I’m reading and classes I’ve taken seem to point in the same direction…
Our body is neutral. It’s a vehicle to be of service as we seek to fulfill a higher purpose or mission. It will do whatever we ask of it. Yet, sometimes we get mad at our body for not doing what we want and we even send negative messages to our body (whether consciously or unconsciously).
However, in yoga we get to focus on our body with love and compassion for one hour. It listens to our direction and goes where we tell it to go. At the end of yoga, we lay in our final Savasana resting pose… where we get to experience alignment. That is the moment when we feel our body loving us back as it reflects back to us everything we put into it.
Our body is a simple vehicle to support our greater mission and calling in life. Love it, and it will certainly love you back.
and I am finding this to be the same with every living creature we encounter. Send it the love you desire, and see how it returns to you in some form or fashion.
Namaste🙏
